Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD degree in Molecular Biology, Evolutionary Biology, or an equivalent foreign degree by the time of employment decision.
- Preference for candidates who obtained their PhD degree within three years prior to the application deadline (special circumstances may extend this period).
- Essential experience with molecular techniques, including techniques for microbial culturing of fungi and transformations.
- Desired experience with Aspergillus fumigatus and knowledge of statistical analysis and data presentation.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
- Proficiency in oral and written English.
Job Description:
The successful applicant will primarily work in the wet lab focusing on transformations of the fungus Aspergillus fumigatus and potentially related species. Responsibilities include:
- Performing genetic modifications and constructing vectors using yeast and/or bacterial transformations.
- Employing CRISPR/Cas9 methods.
- Conducting high-throughput screenings on selective media to demonstrate the horizontal transfer of Starships between fungi.
- Generating and analyzing data, including some minor bioinformatics tasks.
- Communicating findings at international conferences and publishing research articles.
