Research Area

The focus of this PhD research is on developing new machine learning methodologies for the computational representation of molecular composition, structure, and dynamics. The position offers collaboration with experimentalists in the fields of synthetic biology, pharmacology, and agricultural chemistry.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A successfully completed MSc degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, or a related program.
  • Proven experience in programming with Python or proficiency in other languages such as C/++ or Rust.
  • Experience in implementing and applying machine learning methodologies, particularly deep neural networks.
  • Interest in applying machine learning techniques to various life science fields.
  • Excellent English writing skills; C1 level proficiency in English expected.

Description

As a PhD student, your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating and synthesizing state-of-the-art research in machine learning, chemistry, and biology.
  • Collaborating with national and international researchers across disciplines.
  • Writing and publishing research papers.

The position is embedded within the Probst Lab and the Bioinformatics Group at Wageningen University.
