Eligibility/Qualification

  • Essential:
    • Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Science, or related fields.
    • Expertise in solid mechanics with a strong background in:
      • Computational mechanics (constitutive models, failure under dynamic conditions, computer-aided design).
      • Research dissemination through impactful publications and presentations.
      • Multidisciplinary collaboration and training of researchers (PhD, MS, and undergraduate levels).
      • Lab administration and project reporting.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience in experimental nanomechanics (e.g., nanofabrication, SEM, nanomechanical testing) or general materials characterization.
    • Expertise in mechanical metamaterials.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.

Job Description

  • Conduct research on computational mechanics of materials with a primary focus on metamaterials under extreme conditions.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to integrate computational and experimental approaches.
  • Train and mentor researchers at various academic levels.
  • Contribute to lab administration, project reporting, and the dissemination of research findings through high-impact publications and presentations.
  • Participate in the group’s research efforts, which span diverse length and time scales and focus on advancing the understanding of 3D architected materials under large or ultrafast deformations.
