Postdoctoral Researcher in Plant Protection: A postdoctoral position is available for a motivated researcher to work on the project titled ‘Chitosan nanoparticles functionalized with double-stranded RNA as a novel strategy for plant protection’ funded by the National Science Centre (NCN). This exciting project focuses on developing a novel plant protection system leveraging chitosan and RNAi processes. The project is well-progressed, with multiple publications planned.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Ph.D. in biology or a closely related discipline obtained within the past 7 years in Poland or EU countries.
  • Strong experimental experience in plant molecular biology, particularly RNA sequencing data analysis.
  • A solid record of writing skills evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Must meet the formal requirements for a postdoc position as defined by the National Science Centre (NCN): NCN Postdoc Requirements.

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will work on developing innovative strategies for plant protection, focusing on:

  1. Transcriptomic and phenotypic characterization of chitosan-modified interactions between barley and Fusarium.
  2. Design and synthesis of dsRNA molecules targeting pathogen virulence and plant resistance genes.
  3. Development and characterization of dsRNA-chitosan nanoparticle complexes to enhance pathogen resistance in plants.

Salary and Duration

  • Salary: 10,000 PLN/month (employer gross) with potential performance-based increments.
  • Duration: 18 months (until 14.06.2026).
  • Start Date: Immediate availability.
