Research Associate in Geomorphology and Geohazards: The Chair of Geomorphology and Geohazards at the Institute for Geology, Mineralogy and Geophysics (IGMG) at Ruhr University Bochum is seeking a motivated Research Associate to advance research in Earth surface processes and their interplay with climatic and tectonic drivers. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of innovative geochronological techniques and to participate in teaching at the bachelor’s and master’s levels.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- Required: Degree in Geosciences, Physics, or a related discipline (preferably a PhD).
- Desired: Experience with trapped charge dating techniques, particularly electron spin resonance (ESR) and luminescence dating.
- Skills in programming languages (e.g., Matlab, R) are advantageous.
- Proficiency in German and/or English.
Job Description:
- Develop and pursue independent research ideas and seek external funding for projects related to geomorphology and geohazards.
- Conduct research-related tasks in the ESR laboratory, including sample preparation and analytical measurements.
- Assist with fieldwork related to research and teaching, including field courses in alpine areas.
- Teach B.Sc. and M.Sc. courses within the working group (4 hours/week) and supervise B.Sc. and M.Sc. theses.
- Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present results at national and international conferences.
