Eligibility/Qualification

  • PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or a related field.
  • Experience with single-cell transcriptomics and spatial transcriptomics data.
  • Solid understanding of statistics in biology.
  • Experience with long-read sequencing is advantageous.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the Gut Cell Atlas research programme, which aims to integrate single-cell transcriptomics data from patient-derived samples and advanced imaging data to enhance our understanding of Crohn’s Disease. The main responsibilities will include:

  1. Analyzing scRNA-Seq data to identify cell types, subtypes/states, and transition trajectories within the spatial organization of the normal gut.
  2. Developing tools to analytically combine scRNA-Seq data with histological images and spatial transcriptomics.
  3. Conducting bioinformatic investigations to understand the pathogenesis and progression of Crohn’s Disease.
  4. Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams and contributing to the integration of diverse datasets.

The role includes access to high-performance computing facilities and the opportunity to work closely with experimental collaborators in Edinburgh, along with contributing to the Earlham Institute’s core open workflows and computational tools.
