PhD Scholarship – Designing Next-Generation Seismic Metamaterials with Hybrid Particle- and Wave-Based Simulations

Location: Rennes, France (Centre Inria, Beaulieu Scientific Campus) & Bouguenais, France (Université Gustave Eiffel Campus)

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • MSc or equivalent degree in physics (fluid mechanics, acoustics, multi-phase interactions), applied mathematics (statistics, probability), computational mechanics (structural dynamics, finite elements, waves), or a related field.
  • Experience in implementing numerical methods for PDEs or physical problems using high-level programming languages (Matlab, Python, Julia).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work collaboratively in a research-intensive environment.

Job Description:

  • Conduct research on seismic metamaterials, focusing on non-linearities, multi-physical coupling, and wave manipulation for enhanced seismic protection.
  • Develop and implement high-performance particle- and wave-based simulation methods.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary research team, including MSc, PhD students, postdocs, and full-time scientists.
  • Participate in international collaborations and contribute to scientific publications.
