Eligibility/Qualification:
- A good first degree in chemistry or a related subject.
- A PhD (or thesis already submitted) in synthetic organic/organometallic chemistry.
- High-level expertise in multi-step synthesis of organic/organometallic molecules.
- Experience in interpreting multi-nuclear NMR, mass spectra, and other characterization techniques relevant to chemistry.
- A publication record in highly ranked journals.
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present research effectively.
Job Description:
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Conducting laboratory work for the design, multi-step synthesis, and purification of new organometallic complexes (approx. 75% of the contracted time per year).
- Rigorous characterization of new organic ligands and organometallic complexes using techniques like HPLC, NMR, absorption, and luminescence spectroscopy.
- Critical problem-solving related to molecule design and understanding structure-property relationships.
- Planning and managing research within the project framework.
- Writing comprehensive reports and contributing to manuscripts for publication.
- Collaborating with project partners from Lancaster and Cambridge.
- Engaging in academic citizenship and contributing to a respectful working environment.
