Eligibility/Qualification
- MSc degree with a thesis graded A/B (or equivalent) in a relevant field.
- Experience in microalgae cultivation, bioreactor technology, genomics, and microscopy is advantageous.
- Commitment to high-quality laboratory work, scientific excellence, and independent research.
- Must comply with Nord University’s residency requirements.
- Good command of English (both written and oral) is required; proficiency in Norwegian (or a Scandinavian language) is an advantage.
Job Description
The PhD candidate will focus on:
- Developing a thesis based on new laboratory-scale bioreactor technologies.
- Investigating life history and reproductive strategies of diatoms as part of a research project funded by the Norwegian Research Council.
- Producing strategies for improved strains and selection techniques to enhance efficiency in microalgae cultivation.
Responsibilities:
- Work independently and collaboratively with other researchers.
- Develop a final project outline and progress plan within three months of appointment.
- Regularly report on research progress and adhere to doctoral program standards.
