Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Bioscience Engineering, Biophotonics, Bioinformatics, or equivalent.
- Strong interest in 3D stem cell culture, microscopy, biosensors, genetics, and molecular biology.
- Experience with (iPSC) tissue culture, neurodegenerative diseases, FLIM microscopy, and organoids is a competitive advantage.
- Basic bioinformatics skills or willingness to learn.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
Job Description:
The postdoctoral researcher will:
- Set up iPSC-derived human neural organoid models for studying neural-microglia interactions.
- Establish fluorescence lifetime imaging microscopy (FLIM) approaches and analysis pipelines for monitoring neuronal functions.
- Co-supervise a starting PhD student on the project.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams across Ghent University, KU Leuven, and Hasselt University.
- Participate in obtaining external funding (e.g., FWO, MSCA).
