Research Area

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Highly motivated candidates with:
  • Master’s degree (MSc) in construction management and engineering, urban design/planning, architecture, building science, or related fields.
  • Affinity with computational design, parametric modeling, generative design, operations research, optimization, and machine learning.
  • An excellent academic track record.
  • Strong team collaboration and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in English; basic knowledge of Dutch preferred.

Description

The PRE-MADONA project aims to tackle the challenge of renovating 1.5 million buildings and transitioning 7 million homes in the Netherlands to fossil-free energy by 2050. This PhD position involves researching methods to utilize data-driven techniques to optimize large-scale renovation processes, thereby developing tools that support similar housing clusters and ensuring standardized renovation solutions are implemented effectively. The successful candidate will engage in a four-year research program ensuring substantial academic growth.
