Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD degree in life sciences with research experience in infection and/or cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, or bacterial genetics.
  • Documented successful track record through publications and 3rd party funding (if available).
  • Strong participatory spirit and enthusiasm for research in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Good communication skills in English and an interest in developing leadership qualities.

Job Description:

  • Lead a PhD position within the project aimed at developing diagnostic tools and therapeutic recommendations for tackling AMR, specifically in urinary tract infections (UTIs).
  • Collaborate with senior researchers from diverse disciplines embedded in the Thematic Translational Unit of the German Center for Infection Research (DZIF).
  • Innovate experimental models and employ advanced multi-omics techniques to guide clinical studies.
  • Contribute to optimizing treatment regimens against both susceptible and resistant bacteria, considering various factors affecting bacterial fitness and growth dynamics.
