Research Area

The research focuses on the impacts of human activities and natural processes on biodiversity across islands, using high-resolution data from fossil and ecological records.

Location

Hybrid work arrangement based in Barcelona, Spain.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in biology, environmental sciences, or related fields.
  • Excellent analytical skills and experience in programming (especially in R).
  • Good level of English (spoken and written); knowledge of Catalan and Spanish is highly recommended.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and in a team.
  • Availability for fieldwork and a valid car driving license (B2).

Description

The project investigates how island biodiversity has changed throughout the Holocene, aiming to analyze shifts in diversity of plants, mammals, and birds in relation to island characteristics and human impacts. The role involves curating and analyzing fossil datasets, conducting fieldwork, and contributing to publications.
