Postdoctoral Researcher in Volatile Communication: The Laboratory of Plant Biotechnology Applied to Aromatic and Medicinal Plants (LBVpam) at the University of Saint-Etienne, France invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher position under the ANR VolCom Project (Volatile Communication in Plants). This collaborative project aims to investigate the molecular and biochemical mechanisms behind plant volatile organic compound (VOC) communication — from biosynthesis to perception — using advanced metabolomic, transcriptomic, and protein modeling approaches.

Eligibility / Qualification

  • PhD degree in Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Biochemistry, or Plant Bioinformatics with emphasis on plant specialized metabolism.
  • Proven publication record in relevant scientific areas.
  • Mandatory Skills:
    • Strong background in molecular biology and plant specialized metabolism.
  • Preferred/Additional Skills:
    • Experience in terpenoid research, metabolomics, bioinformatics, and protein modeling.

Job Description

The postdoctoral researcher will:

  • Investigate mechanisms by which floral organs of Petunia communicate using terpenoid VOCs and derivatives.
  • Apply cutting-edge metabolomic, transcriptomic, and protein modeling tools.
  • Perform biochemical and physiological characterizations to decipher the biochemical pathway of terpenoid ligand perception.
  • Characterize bioactivity in planta and identify receptor interactions.
  • Collaborate closely with international partners (France and USA).
