Research Assistant Position: Osnabrück University is inviting applications for a Research Assistant (m/f/d) position within the Department of Ecology at the School of Biology/Chemistry. This role is part of a DFG-funded research project focusing on bacterial consortia and metabolism.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Required:
- Completed university degree (M.Sc. or comparable) in biology or a related field
- Solid knowledge of molecular biological methods
- Practical experience with microbiological techniques
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Desirable:
- Excellent university degree
- Strong motivation and curiosity
- Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
- Structured and independent working style
- Experience in high-resolution fluorescence microscopy and microfluidics
- Practical experience in mass spectrometry
- Good working knowledge of statistical analysis procedures
- Sound knowledge of ecological and evolutionary concepts
- Basic knowledge of programming languages (e.g., Python or R)
Job Description
- Participate in the DFG-funded research project on bacterial metabolism
- Generate and characterize bacterial mutants
- Conduct coculture experiments with various bacterial strains
- Analyze bacterial clusters using laser diffractometry and fluorescence microscopy
- Investigate bacteria on a single-cell level using microfluidics and flow-cytometry
- Quantify amino acid production and metabolic fluxes via mass spectrometry
- Collaborate with various partners from renowned universities
