Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field.
- Proven experience with Shape Memory Alloys, preferably within the NiTi family, including post-processing and shape programming.
- Expertise in additive manufacturing of SMAs, ideally using the Laser Powder Bed Fusion (L-PBF) technique.
- Proficiency in thermo-mechanical and microstructural characterization methods (DSC, SEM, EBSD, XRD).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive and detail-oriented approach, capable of managing multiple responsibilities.
- A collaborative mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
Job Description
As a postdoctoral researcher, your role will include:
- Conducting experimental research focused on the manufacturing and characterization of SMA components.
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team across various institutes (UTwente, FIP, TU Delft, NLR, M2I).
- Engaging in the design, processing, and testing of SMA-based parts aimed at enhancing aerospace applications by integrating active thermal control for real-time adjustments.
