Eligibility/Qualification

  • A Master’s (MSc) degree in:
  • Biocatalysis
  • Enzymology
  • Biotechnology
  • Biochemical Engineering
  • A closely related discipline
  • Relevant experience during Master’s thesis and/or industrial internship in:
  • Lab-scale biocatalytic processes
  • Enzyme production, purification, and characterization
  • (Bio)chemical analytical techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, GC-MS)
  • Additional skills considered a plus:
  • Programming for data analysis (e.g., R, Python)
  • Multivariate data analysis, chemometrics, and/or machine learning
  • Strong communication skills and pro-active problem-solving mindset

Job Description

The PhD candidate will:

  • Design a scalable bioprocess leveraging UPO enzymes for synthetic chemical production.
  • Implement real-time monitoring to enhance understanding of bioconversions.
  • Benefit from workshops and external research stays to develop both technical and transferable skills within a multidisciplinary environment.
