The project focuses on recovering high-purity materials from mixed NMC and LFP Li-ion battery waste streams through innovative electrochemical methods.

Eligibility/Qualification
- Educational Background: MSc degree in Materials Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or closely related field.
- Experience: Practical experience in hydrometallurgy and electrochemistry; prior work on lithium battery recycling is a plus.
- Skills: Hands-on laboratory experience, knowledge of safety procedures, and strong communication skills in English.
Description
As a PhD researcher, you will be part of a project dedicated to enhancing the recycling processes for Li-ion batteries. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Optimizing the leaching of elements from battery waste.
- Developing sustainable purification and separation processes.
- Evaluating recycled materials for use in new battery cells.
- Contributing to lower chemical usage and reduced greenhouse gas emissions compared to conventional methods.
You will work under the supervision of experts from TU Delft and TNO as part of the ADAPT-BATT project, which is part of the national Material Independence & Circular Batteries program in the Netherlands.
