Eligibility/Qualification

To be eligible for this PhD position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Master’s Degree: A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field such as Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science, or a related discipline. The degree must have been obtained and documented by the application deadline.
  • Academic Background: Strong academic record, typically with an average grade of B or better (according to the Norwegian grading scale) on the Master’s thesis and overall Master’s degree.
  • Research Experience: Documented experience with relevant research methods and techniques, particularly in AI/machine learning, data analysis, or biomaterials characterization.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI and data science (e.g., Python, R).
  • Language Skills: Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Motivation: Strong motivation for research and ability to work independently as well as in a team.
  • Desirable: Experience with multimodal data analysis, advanced microscopy techniques, or computational modelling of materials will be considered an advantage.

Scholarship Description

The PhD position is a fully funded, 3-year research fellowship with no teaching duties, dedicated entirely to research and doctoral studies. The successful candidate will be part of an interdisciplinary research environment, contributing to a project that utilizes advanced AI techniques to analyze complex biomaterial data. The goal is to develop predictive models that can accelerate the design and optimization of novel biomaterials for various applications, including medical implants and tissue engineering. The position offers access to state-of-the-art facilities, supervision from leading experts, and opportunities for national and international collaboration.
