Eligibility/Qualification

  • Masterโ€™s degree in Physics, Materials Science, or a related discipline
  • Experience with X-ray diffraction techniques applied to metallic materials
  • Technical skills with research equipment and experience in experimental research
  • Programming skills and experience with data analysis
  • Excellent oral and written English skills

Preferred Qualities

  • Experience with synchrotron diffraction experiments
  • Background in metallurgy and metallic materials manufacturing methods
  • Knowledge of metallographic specimen preparation and electron microscopy
  • Good German language skills

Job Description

  • Produce and analyze samples using the MiniMelt environment.
  • Conduct post-build ex-situ analyses with diffraction and imaging techniques.
  • Further develop simultaneous diffraction and radiography techniques.
  • Investigate effects of cyclic heating on sample buildings.
  • Collaborate with students and researchers within the Doctoral Network.
  • Evaluate and interpret data and present findings at conferences.
