Eligibility/Qualification
- PhD in analytical chemistry, microfluidics, chemical engineering, robotics, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in microfluidics, specifically segmented slug flow.
- Proficiency in programming, preferably in Python and LabView.
- Interest in metabolomics and NMR is desirable.
- Proficient in English (good to excellent).
Job Description
The successful candidate will focus on:
- Studying the stability of organic solvent slugs (e.g., acetone, acetonitrile, chloroform) in different push solvents for NMR detection of apolar metabolites.
- Developing novel NMR flow-cells to investigate the influence of flow-cell design on slug stability.
- Upgrading the automation of the liquid handling robotic platform, including pump control and slug detection.
- Demonstrating the potential of the improved system with relevant use cases for biotechnology and health applications.
Research will be conducted in collaboration with the Analytical Sciences department of dsm-firmenich, with access to existing systems for segmented flow high-throughput NMR.
