Eligibility / Qualification

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, or a related field
  • Background in Metabolic Engineering, Synthetic Biology, or Microbial Physiology
  • Experience in molecular cloning, strain engineering, or fermentation (preferred)
  • Skills in data analysis (Python, MATLAB) or metabolomics (advantageous)
  • Proficiency in English (written and spoken)
  • Strong motivation for interdisciplinary research in biotechnology

Job Description

Selected candidates will work under the supervision of Hannes Link and contribute to innovative research, including:

  • Engineering E. coli strains for bioplastic (cyanophycin) production
  • Designing thermo-switches to control microbial growth and production
  • Applying CRISPR-based tools for strain optimization
  • Using targeted and untargeted metabolomics to identify metabolic bottlenecks
  • Developing temperature-controlled two-stage bioprocesses (1L scale)
  • Publishing research in peer-reviewed journals and presenting at conferences
  • Collaborating within an interdisciplinary microbiology and biotechnology team
