Job Description

The Post Doctoral Fellow will be responsible for:

  • Leading and designing experiments in consultation with Prof. Huff.
  • STM/AFM fabrication and characterization of atomically precise structures or molecules.
  • Conducting TERS investigations of molecules on metals.
  • Collaborating with coworkers and industry/academic partners to achieve research goals.
  • Setting research directions and assisting in establishing research methods and standards.
  • Mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Preparing and presenting research papers, presentations, and publications.
  • Maintaining and modifying UHV SPM systems and hardware.

Eligibility/Qualification

  • A strong background in surface science, cryogenic measurements, atomically resolved scanning probe microscopy techniques (STM/AFM), and ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems.
  • Experience in tip-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (TERS), quantum colour centre characterization, AFM or optically based charge dynamics measurements, or ultra-fast optics is highly valued.
  • Familiarity with programming, specifically in Python and LabVIEW.
  • Strong collaboration, verbal, and written communication skills.
