Location: Institute of Developmental & Regenerative Medicine (IDRM), Old Road Campus, Oxford
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD/DPhil (or near completion) in a biomedical science field, preferably with experience in Neuroscience/Genetics.
- Proven experience in mammalian cell culture and molecular biology.
- Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to operate effectively in a demanding and interdisciplinary research environment.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will lead an independent research project focused on expanding the possibilities of mRNA modulation through novel exon skipping strategies using antisense oligonucleotides. This role involves contributing to a translational and multidisciplinary research program led by Dr. Marlen Lauffer. You will be involved in developing innovative genetic therapies, creating computational tools, and standardizing therapeutic actionability assessments. Collaboration with national and international initiatives such as the MRC Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) in Therapeutic Genomics and the N=1 Collaborative is expected, offering excellent opportunities for scientific exchange and professional development. This is an ideal position for a researcher keen on translational research and contributing to building a new research team.
