Research Objectives

The project aims to break the dependency on uncontrolled, large-scale datasets through:

  • Object-Attribute Compositionality: Implementing structured concept learning.
  • Bias Mitigation: Early identification of shortcuts and machine unlearning.
  • Perceptual/Conceptual Priors: Designing self-supervised objectives that capture continuous similarity.

Eligibility & Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Mathematics (with a major in AI, Machine Learning, or Computer Vision).
  • Skills: Strong background in machine learning, excellent programming skills, and a solid foundation in mathematics.
  • Soft Skills: Creative, analytical, excellent communication skills, and a strong team spirit.
  • Language: Proficiency in English.
  • Bonus: Previous experience in scientific publishing (e.g., CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, ICLR) is highly appreciated.
  • Language Requirement: For non-native speakers without English-language education, a minimum score of 6.5 (IELTS) or 90 (TOEFL-iBT) is required.

Job Description

As a PhD candidate, you will work under the supervision of Dr. Nicola Strisciuglio and the Computer Vision Lab. You will have access to the Twente Graduate School training program, a travel budget for conferences, and the flexibility to work from home. The position includes excellent benefits, including an 8% holiday allowance, an 8.3% end-of-year bonus, and a pension scheme.
