Summary

This is a full-time, 3-year fixed-term position based at the Chair of Animal Physiology and Molecular Biomedicine. You will contribute to cutting-edge research on the olfactory system in amphibians, utilizing advanced imaging and neurophysiological techniques while having the opportunity for further academic qualification.

Research Area

The research group focuses on the developmental, cellular, and functional aspects of the olfactory system in amphibians and aquatic vertebrates. The work involves:

  • Advanced imaging (confocal/multiphoton microscopy) and neurophysiological methods.
  • Studying neuronal development, synaptogenesis, and regeneration.
  • Conducting behavioral studies to explore olfactory cues under natural conditions.

Eligibility & Qualification

  • Degree: Completed Master’s or equivalent university degree; a Doctoral degree in biology, neurobiology, or a related natural science is required.
  • Skills: Experience with fluorescence microscopy, functional imaging, electrophysiological techniques, immunohistochemistry, and behavioral experiments is highly advantageous.
  • Experience: Previous work with amphibians or other aquatic vertebrates is preferred.
  • Languages: Good written and spoken English skills.
  • Attributes: Ability to work independently and effectively within a team.

Job Description

  • Design, prepare, and conduct neurobiological experiments.
  • Perform quantitative, statistical, and image-based data analysis.
  • Prepare research results for reports, scientific presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Supervise Bachelor’s and Master’s students involved in the project.
