Research Area

Eligibility / Qualification

Applicants must possess:

  • A PhD degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Production Engineering, or a closely related discipline (or a letter from their promotor indicating when the dissertation will be completed).
  • Strong expertise in materials, computational simulation, AI/ML, or manufacturing process engineering.
  • Practical experience working with both plastics and metals.
  • An independent, creative mindset alongside strong collaborative skills.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • English Language Proof: IELTS academic = 6.5, TOEFL computer-based = 237, or TOEFL internet-based = 92.

Job Description (What you are going to do)

  • Plan and execute experiments to characterize material behavior and processing effects across plastics and selected metals.
  • Identify and mitigate batch-to-batch material differences to ensure process reproducibility.
  • Curate, structure, and annotate high-quality datasets optimized for simulations and machine learning.
  • Develop Digital Twins and simulation pipelines for virtual validation and predictive performance assessments.
  • Implement AI and data-driven methods to connect material properties, processing windows, performance targets, and circularity indicators.
  • Collaborate across disciplines with experimentalists, computational engineers, and data scientists to translate laboratory results into validated digital tools.
  • Document and share research findings through technical reports, presentations, and peer-reviewed publications.
