Job Description & Duties
As a doctoral student in this project, your core responsibilities will include:
- Analyzing large-scale omics, genetic, and epigenetic datasets.
- Designing, developing, and implementing computational statistical methods and interpretable AI/machine learning models.
- Contributing to the identification of biological markers and molecular mechanisms associated with MS disease progression.
- Actively participating in scientific writing, presentations, postgraduate courses, and the broader activities of the DDLS graduate school.
Eligibility & Qualifications
A) Academic Requirements (General Eligibility)
To qualify for doctoral education in Sweden, you must meet one of the following by the application deadline:
- Hold a second-cycle/advanced qualification (e.g., a Master’s degree).
- Have completed at least 240 higher education credits (ECTS), with at least 60 credits earned at the advanced/Master’s level.
- Have acquired equivalent knowledge through other means in Sweden or abroad.
B) Specific Requirements & Skills
- Education: A Master’s degree in computational biology, data science, bioinformatics, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong programming skills in Python, R, and Linux-based software (or similar). Familiarity with basic statistical analysis concepts.
- Advanced Computing: Experience with modern machine learning/deep learning frameworks and parallel computing using high-performance clusters (like UPPMAX) and GPUs.
- Language: High proficiency in spoken and written English (equivalent to the Swedish upper secondary school course English 6/English B).
- Preferred (Advantageous): Experience in genetic/omics data analysis and visualization, network theory applications, and previous work within international consortia.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills, flexibility, a collaborative mindset, and a commitment to maintaining a friendly work environment.
