Eligibility / Qualifications
- Education: PhD degree (or foreign equivalent) in psychology, physics, neuroscience, neuroinformatics, biology, or a relevant field. The degree must be obtained no earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project (excluding maternity leave).
- Technical Skills: Strong programming skills in MATLAB and/or Python (signal analysis, statistics, neuronal modeling, machine learning).
- Experience & Assets:
- Experience in human electrophysiological research (intracranial research is a huge plus).
- Knowledge of cognitive systems and the neuronal basis of Working Memory (large plus).
- Scientific hardware troubleshooting capabilities during recording sessions (plus).
- Knowledge of the Polish language is a plus (for interacting with the local research population).
- Soft Skills: Interpersonal skills for patient interaction and effective collaboration with medical staff and team members.
- Commitment: Exceptional motivation for scientific research. The candidate is expected not to undertake any other work during the period of employment.
Job Description & Research Tasks
The selected candidate will work on cutting-edge human single-neuron recordings obtained during the clinical implantation of devices for drug-resistant epilepsy monitoring. Responsibilities include:
- Planning and conducting experimental work during epilepsy monitoring, focusing on the Medial Temporal Lobe (hippocampus and amygdala).
- Analyzing complex electrophysiological signals, including single-unit sorting and multidimensional analyses.
- Preparing scientific manuscripts for high-impact publication.
- Supervising PhD students within the laboratory.
- Note: This is a dedicated research position and does not include teaching responsibilities.
