Summary

The Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology PAS is seeking a dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Liang Lab. The successful candidate will work on a project funded by the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (the TOP200 NAWA Programme) to investigate the role of tumor necrosis factor 2 (TNFR2) in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) using cutting-edge methods such as CRISPR technology, single-cell multi-omics, and flow cytometry.

Eligibility / Qualification

To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Hold a PhD degree in a life science discipline such as Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Cancer, Biotechnology, or equivalent.
  • Track Record: Have a strong research interest in hematopoiesis, cancer biology, or cancer treatment, backed by a proven scientific track record and relevant publications. Must be the first author of at least one original research publication.
  • Technical Skills: Possess a solid foundation in molecular and cellular techniques, including gene cloning, PCR, western blotting, transfection/transduction, drug treatment, cell culture, flow cytometry, and cell sorting.
  • Advantageous Experience: Experience handling mice and processing human primary samples is highly desired.
  • Soft Skills: Must demonstrate project management abilities, critical thinking, software competency, time management, creative problem-solving, teamwork, and strong communication skills to drive projects independently.
  • Language: Proficiency in English is required.

Job Description

Project Focus: The postdoctoral researcher will investigate the impacts of TNFR2 perturbations on CLL. The project will utilize human CLL cell lines, experimental mouse models, and primary human materials collected from voluntary CLL donors.

Scope of Tasks:

  • Co-develop scientific concepts and detailed methodologies in collaboration with Dr. Liang and the lab team.
  • Refine experimental strategies to meet project milestones and ensure timely delivery of outputs.
  • Plan, conduct, and optimize laboratory experiments (sample collection, molecular/cellular/biochemical analyses) while maintaining high-quality standards and accurate documentation.
  • Independently analyze data, interpret results, prepare figures, and contribute to internal reports.
  • Present research findings at national and international scientific conferences.
  • Lead the writing and revision of manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journals.
  • Provide scientific mentoring and support to PhD student(s) in the lab.
