Research Area & Job Description
The successful candidate will join the Laboratory for Functional Aromatic Molecules to conduct high-level research and contribute to teaching and student mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in the synthesis, characterization, and application of conjugated organic materials, specifically conjugated polymers and conjugated macrocycles.
- Participate in acquiring, managing, and executing research projects.
- Draft scientific publications for peer-reviewed international journals, prepare presentations, and draft invention disclosures.
- Process and curate research data according to FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) data principles.
- Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
- Develop and deliver course materials and participate in teaching and examination activities in applied synthetic chemistry.
- Assist with organizational, administrative, and scientific event planning activities.
Eligibility & Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree (PhD): Completed appropriate PhD/doctorate in Chemistry, Polymer Science, Materials Chemistry, or a related field by the start date at the latest.
- Publications: Proven scientific publication record in peer-reviewed international academic journals.
- Language Proficiency: Excellent written and spoken English skills (minimum CEFR C1 level).
- Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the synthesis, characterization, and application of conjugated organic materials.
- Teaching & Mentoring: Prior teaching experience and a genuine interest in working with students.
- Soft Skills: Strong team orientation, communication skills, and problem-solving abilities.
Desirable Experience:
- Hands-on expertise with polymer synthesis and conjugated organic materials in electronic device applications.
- Experience in national/international research collaborations and project management.
- Prior experience in the co-supervision of students.
- Research experience outside Austria.
