Eligibility/Qualification
Required:
- Doctorate (Bac + 8) in applied mathematics, computer science, automation, operations research, industrial engineering, quantitative data science, or a related field.
Scientific Profile:
- Solid background in probabilities, statistics, stochastic processes, optimization, modeling and simulation, and/or dynamic systems.
- Interest in the healthcare domain.
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in scientific Python (NumPy, pandas, SciPy, scikit-learn or equivalents) and good practices in software development, versioning, and reproducibility.
- Significant experience with at least one family of dynamic models: Markov / MDP, multi-state models, Monte-Carlo, differential equations, state models, or multi-agent / discrete-event simulation.
- Ability to articulate mathematical models and data: parameter estimation, calibration, sensitivity analysis, validation, uncertainty quantification.
- Proficiency in scientific English, written and oral (minimum B2 level, C1 appreciated); ability to write articles and present work in an international context.
Additional Assets:
- Experience with longitudinal data, health data, cohorts, clinical trials, or real-world data.
- Knowledge of a simulation environment (AnyLogic, SimPy, MATLAB/Simulink or equivalent) and/or a compiled language (C++, Java).
- Publication experience in journals or conferences in modeling, simulation, artificial intelligence, operations research, or digital health.
Job Description
As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be at the heart of the research and innovation missions of the Engineering and Health Center (CIS). You will join the i4S team to develop the scientific foundations of a new generation of population-level digital twins (JNP) in healthcare, in close collaboration with Dali.
Main Missions:
- Design and formalize mathematical and stochastic models of patient trajectories: Markov chains, multi-state models, state-space models, Markov decision processes, Monte-Carlo simulation, and hybrid approaches.
- Develop Python prototypes of JNPs capable of learning their parameters from real data, generating virtual trajectories, and testing therapeutic or care scenarios.
- Propose methods for calibration, estimation, optimization, uncertainty quantification, and model validation; compare approaches on use cases from cohorts, registries, or real-world data.
- Contribute to the scientific valorization of the work (publications, conferences, software), formalize transferable components for DALI, and report on progress to the scientific project manager.
Your ability to transition from a scientific problem to a formal model and then to a robust implementation will be essential. The position requires a strong interest in applied mathematics, algorithms, scientific programming, and interdisciplinary research.
