Eligibility/Qualification
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
- Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Demonstrated ability to execute scientific investigation at an advanced level.
- Expertise in mammalian cell culture, with at least five years of experience.
- Experience in computational modeling with MATLAB, Python, or equivalent programming language.
- Knowledge of cell biology and physiology.
- Proficiency in advanced statistics.
- Familiarity with transport modeling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with imaging and biochemical techniques such as PCR or Western blot.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Experience as a mentor.
Job Description
Under the mentorship of Dr. William Polacheck in the Lampe Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill & North Carolina State University, the Post-Doc Research Associate will:
- Lead research on developing automated, high throughput organ-on-chip platforms for evaluation of antibody therapeutic pharmacokinetics and safety.
- Be skilled at mammalian cell culture, microfluidic device fabrication and implementation.
- Design experimental protocols.
- Identify the necessary resources.
- Acquire, process, and interpret data.
- Establish and maintain research collaborations.
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students working on related projects.
- Publish results in refereed manuscripts.
- Present findings at relevant research conferences.
- Incorporate research into competitive funding proposals.
This is a temporary training position designed to prepare the Post-Doc for success as an independent investigator in industry or academia.
