Eligibility/Qualification

Essential Requirements:

  • PhD in biochemistry, cell biology, molecular biology, or a related discipline.
  • Evidence of research productivity, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, preprints, submitted manuscripts, or other relevant research outputs.
  • Knowledge of epigenetics, chromatin biology, and transcription regulation.
  • Hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and manipulation.
  • Proficiency in a range of core molecular and cell biology techniques, such as molecular cloning, gene expression analysis, western blotting, immunostaining, flow cytometry, and immunoprecipitation.

Additional Information:

  • Candidates nearing completion of their PhD may apply, but confirmation of awarded PhD is required within 6 months of employment.
  • The ICR has a workforce agreement stating that Postdoctoral Training Fellows can only be employed for up to 7 years as PDTF at the ICR, providing total postdoctoral experience (including previous employment at this level elsewhere) does not exceed 7 years.
  • This role is eligible for ICR Sponsorship for UK visas, with support provided for associated costs for first-time visa applicants.

Job Description

The Postdoctoral Training Fellow will investigate the role of histone acetylation in gene regulation and cell identity in acute myeloid leukaemia. The role involves using complementary molecular, genomic, and functional approaches to define the mechanisms underlying these effects. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work across chromatin biology, functional genomics, and cancer biology, applying diverse approaches to address mechanistic questions relevant to disease. The Chromatin Biology group, led by Dr. Radzisheuskaya, focuses on how post-translational modifications on histone proteins regulate genome organization and stability and their contribution to cancer development. The group is situated within a highly collaborative environment at the ICR’s Chelsea site, providing access to state-of-the-art facilities including genomics, flow cytometry, microscopy, proteomics, and scientific computing.
