Research Area

Eligibility/Qualification
Required Selection Criteria:
- Admission to NTNU’s faculty’s Doctoral Programme (see Section 6-1 of the PhD regulations).
- Relevant Master’s degree (or equivalent) in mechanical and industrial engineering, chemical engineering, chemistry, or materials science.
- The Master’s degree must include a major independent project (minimum 30 ECTS) equivalent to a Master’s thesis.
- Master’s students can apply, but the degree must be obtained and documented before starting the position.
- Average grade from Master’s degree study (or equivalent) equal to B or better compared to NTNU’s grading scale.
- Sound interest in materials science, electrochemistry, or the use of artificial intelligence in an engineering context.
- Good oral and written presentation skills in English.
Preferred Selection Criteria:
- Good analytical and computational capabilities (documented through course information or thesis deliverables).
- Skilled in either computational modeling or experimentation, with a willingness to work on both.
Personal Characteristics:

Scholarship Description
As a PhD Candidate, you will be part of a newly formed research group focusing on Corrosion and Corrosion Protection. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to an exciting new environment with plenty of research opportunities while completing your doctoral education. Duties include:
- Completing doctoral education and obtaining a doctorate.
- Carrying out high-quality research within the project framework.
- Academic publications and popular science dissemination.
- Participating in the research group and international activities (conferences, workshops).
