Eligibility/Qualification

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in one or more of the following: isolation/cultivation of anaerobes and/or phages, anaerobic techniques, functional genomics, sequencing, high-throughput assay development, biochemistry, bioinformatics, analytical chemistry (LC-MS, HPLC), and microbial genetics.
  • Ability to analyze, publish, and present research data.
  • Self-motivation, ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, strong time-management and organizational skills, and excellent communication skills.

Job Description

The Postdoctoral Associate will be responsible for leading research projects aimed at advancing the understanding of gut microbiota at the molecular level. Potential projects include studying antimicrobial stress tolerance, carbon metabolic pathways, and genetic determinants underlying bacteria-phage interactions in Bacteroidales. The role requires a commitment of two years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting experiments independently and establishing new protocols.
  • Timely recording of accurate experimental details and results.
  • Performing data interpretations and communicating findings to the Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Participating and contributing to group meetings.
  • Writing manuscripts related to the project and assisting in the preparation of research proposals.
  • Participating in and presenting work at conferences and workshops.
  • Training and mentoring lab members; assisting others when/where expertise is needed.
  • Performing weekly lab maintenance duties.
