Summary
This fully funded PhD studentship at Ulster University focuses on the computational design and optimisation of compact latent heat thermal batteries using advanced thermally conductive materials and novel heat exchanger concepts. The project will use computational fluid dynamics (CFD), numerical modelling and optimisation to study melting and solidification behaviour, conductive and convective heat transfer, material properties, heat exchanger geometry and operating conditions. Where appropriate, modelling will be supported by material characterisation and small-scale experimental validation in collaboration with industry partner Senergy Innovations Ltd.
