Job Description
The successful candidate will lead projects centered on structure-based drug discovery. The work involves understanding the mechanisms of small molecules through high-resolution structure determination and functional assays. You will be part of a collaborative team, taking ownership of sub-projects while contributing to the broader goals of the Sun lab.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently design, execute, and interpret experiments in structural biology and biochemistry.
- Perform protein complex expression and purification using mammalian and insect systems.
- Conduct cryo-EM sample preparation, data collection, and high-resolution structure determination.
- Perform functional assays in mammalian cells and animal models to study pharmacology.
- Analyze data, prepare manuscripts, and present research at international scientific conferences.
- Collaborate with internal team members and external partners.
Eligibility & Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Structural Biology, Biophysics, Cell Biology, Pharmacology, Chemical Biology, or a closely related field.
- A strong publication record with at least one first-author paper in a peer-reviewed journal.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior hands-on experience with single-particle cryo-EM (sample preparation, data processing, and model building).
- Expertise in complex protein expression and purification.
- Background in chemical biology.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Interest in mentoring junior lab members.
