Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory (LDEO) of Earth Institute at Columbia University, USA invites application for Lamont-Doherty Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Earth and Environmental Sciences from eligible and interested candidates
About- Columbia University is a private Ivy League research university in New York City. Established in 1754 on the grounds of Trinity Church in Manhattan, Columbia is the oldest institution of higher education in New York and the fifth-oldest institution of higher learning in the United States. 1995 established Earth Institute is a research institute at Columbia University. Its stated mission is to address complex issues facing the planet and its inhabitants, with a focus on sustainable development.
Research/Job Area- Earth and Environmental Sciences, solid Earth dynamics; ocean, atmospheric and climate systems; cryospheric dynamics; paleoclimate and biogeoscience and related fields.
Location- Columbia University, USA

Postdoctoral Fellowships in USA, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory
Eligibility/Qualification–
Candidates should have recently completed their Ph.D. or should expect to complete their degree requirements by September 2020.
Job/Position Description-
Researchers at the Observatory work to understand the dynamics of the Earth’s chemical, physical and biological systems, from the core to the upper atmosphere, including Earth’s interactions with human society. Our scientists lead research in the fields of solid Earth dynamics; ocean, atmospheric and climate systems; cryospheric dynamics; paleoclimate and biogeoscience.
Number of fellowships: The number of fellowships awarded can vary from year to year, and could range from 2 to 4 fellowships per year.
Fellowship details: Fellowships are institutionally supporting for 24 months and for the coming year will provide an annual salary of $67,000 and a one-time research allowance of $7,500. A portion of the research allowance may be used to cover moving costs, subject to the Director’s approval.
Columbia housing: Fellowship recipients are eligible to apply for Columbia University housing; housing slots are limited, however, and a waiting period is often required.

LDEO is especially interested in qualified candidates whose record of achievement will contribute to the diversity of the Observatory’s scientific personnel.
How to Apply-
Applications must be submitted on the Columbia University online application system (RAPS). After reading all the instructions, scroll down to the bottom of the page (link given below) and click the “Apply for Fellowship” button, which will take you to the RAPS website, where you can submit your application.
The RAPS website asks to select one of five areas of research: solid-Earth dynamics; ocean, atmospheric, and climate systems; cryospheric dynamics; paleoclimate; or biogeoscience. If your areas of interest span more than one of these fields, select the one that most closely matches your research proposal. If none of these areas apply, select “Other/ None of the above.”
Selection criteria: The principal selection criteria are scientific excellence and a clearly expressed plan to investigate one or more problems at the forefront of Earth science.
