Eligibility/Qualification/Job/Position Description-
CMTI is currently looking for outstanding Graduates, Post Graduates and Doctorates with consistent good academic record and aptitude for Research & Development and are committed towards Technology development upto TRL 6-8.
POST CODE: SB/MECH/01
- Post: Scientist – B (Mechanical and allied engineering).
- Number of Vacancies : 05 (Five)
- Essential Qualification:
Ø Engineering Graduates with 60% aggregate marks from approved University / Institution with two years’ post qualification experience in relevant field.
OR
- Master’s in Engineering with 60% aggregate marks both in Bachelor and Masters with one year post qualification experience in relevant field. OR
- PhD in Engineering (thesis submitted) with 60% aggregate marks both in their preceding Bachelor and Masters degree.
- Specialization: Graduate or Masters in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Production, Mechatronics, CAD/CAM, Machine Design, Aerospace, Computer Integrated Manufacturing.
Note: In case of specialization other than listed above, 60% of credit points earned by the candidates in undergraduate / master’s degree must be relevant to Mechanical engineering science courses.
- Essential areas of experience: Research and/or Industrial Experience in one or multiple areas of the following:
- Product development / Design and analysis of Machine tools & its elements, GD&T, CAD/CAM/CAE, Engineering Drawings. 3D Modeling and motion simulation
- Design and development of Electromechanical systems, machines and equipment’s, Aerospace LRUs, Test Rigs, Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems, Automation Systems, Assembly techniques.
- Manufacturing Processes: Metal Cutting, Energy assisted mfg. processes, Adv. Welding technology, Adv. Metal casting, forging and forming processes
- Material testing, NDT, Machine tool testing, Vibration, Fault detection (Mechanical, Structural and electrical) Failure analysis
- Smart Manufacturing: Experience in smart systems designs, IIoT, Sensors and controls, process intelligence, AI, ML and data analytics tools.
- Desired areas of experience: Preference will be given for the candidates those who have demonstrated experience in development of products / machines / process technologies / automation systems / Testing / Softwares etc. that have been implemented in real industrial application (up to TRL 5 and above). Hands on experience in Solid works/ CATIA / ANSYS / ComsolMultiphysics and Exposure to AS9100, other safety standards will be added advantage.
- Job Description : Scientist –B is expected to involve in R&D jointly with project team and also to originate the new research in:
- Design and development of special purpose machines, precision and smart machines, aerospace LRUs and test rigs, electromechanical, hydro-pneumatic subsystems, reconfigurable machines, Metrology Instruments.
- Process technology developments: Additive manufacturing, laser processing, energy assisted manufacturing, hybrid process technologies, advanced welding and forming processes.

- Design and analysis of control systems, instrumentation, System design and analysis: Machines, electromechanical systems, biomedical devices, Hydraulic and pneumatic systems, Robotics and automation systems etc.
- Development of Computer Vision and Image Processing based solutions manufacturing systems, biomedical systems, non-contact measurements, Non Destructive Testing (NDT), Process inspection, control monitoring fault detection etc.
- Software Design, Development, Testing and Integration: Experience in design of control software, Data Engineering (analytics), Labview programing for NI DAQ modules & RT, PLC and Microprocessor based controllers, software testing and documentation, Human Machine
Interface.
- Software skills such as Phyton, Java, HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, Node JS , DBMS, Front End and Back end software application developments.
- Smart Manufacturing: Experience in smart systems designs, IIoT frameworks, Sensors and controls, process intelligence, AI, ML and data analytics tools, cloud computing technologies.
- Desired areas of experience (if any): Preference will be given for the candidates those who have demonstrated experience in development of electronic hardware and software (front end and back end Software applications), Control logic and algorithms development, system integration and testing at system level that have been implemented in real industrial application (up to TRL 5 and above). Hands on experience in Circuit design / Signal conditioning / Software skills (EPLAN, Phyton, Java, HTML, DBMS, AI and ML) and Exposure to AS9100, EMC…. And other safety standards will be added advantage.

SCIENTIST – C
Ø Masters in Engineering and Science disciplines with 60% aggregate marks both in Bachelor and Masters with Five years’ post qualification experience in relevant field.
OR
- PhD in Engineering and Science with 60% aggregate marks in their preceding Bachelor and Masters degree.
SCIENTIST – D
- Masters in Engineering and Science with 60% aggregate marks both in Bachelor and Masters with Eight years’ post qualification experience in relevant field.
OR
Ø PhD in any Engineering and Science with two years’ post doctoral experience in relevant field and 60% aggregate marks in their preceding Bachelor and Masters degree.
Specialization: Undergraduate degree with 60% aggregates marks in any of the Engineering and / or Natural Sciences having M.E/M.Tech/PhD qualification and minimum experience in one or multiple areas mentioned shall only be considered.
Note: No reservations for Scientist C & D Posts. As long as candidates having requisite years of experience in any of the essential experience mentioned in section, are eligible to apply. Candidates experience shall be assessed based on evidences like specialization in Masters, Ph.D thesis, publications, patents, products / technology development.

- Experience in development of online training modules, Business promotion materials, visual design tools, Experience in product requirement analysis tools, Patenting (assessment, gap analysis, filing procedures), Business Intelligence, etc.
- Nanomaterials synthesis and their novel applications, experience in advanced material characterization techniques and tools.

This should be supported with evidences including customer’s feedback, Patents, publications in SCI journals, public media, employer’s appreciations, awards and recognitions, but not limited to these.
- Candidates having experience in project formulations, successful in receiving the grants/sponsorships from industry /funding agency.
Job Description : Scientist – C and Scientist – D are lateral entry positions:
- They are expected to identify the research opportunities, source the research funding and deliver the novel solutions at the accepted TRL levels. CMTI being National R&D institute focusing on applied research and is dedicated to developing new/novel solutions to address the challenges of our customers. The product development and soft deliverables of R&D, like publications, patents and trademarks are equally important.
- Apart from their S&T activities, these senior scientists (particularly at Scientist-D level and above) are expected to get involve with other allied activities like, technology gap assessment, problem definition and formulation of projects, customer interactions and negotiations, project costing, team building and management that ensure the strong commitment towards the committed deliverables to the satisfaction of concerned stakeholders.
