Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD or international degree deemed equivalent to a PhD, in atmospheric sciences, environmental sciences, physical geography, ecosystem science, ecology, climate sciences, soil science or similar.
- Completed no more than three years before the date of application.
- In-depth experience of measurements and analyses of greenhouse gas data using eddy-covariance techniques.
- Some experience of measurements and analyses of data using chamber techniques.
- Experience in handling large data sets.
- Knowledge of terrestrial ecosystems and soil science.
- Advanced knowledge of Python, R, or Matlab.
- Ability to develop and conduct independent high-quality research.
- Publications in international peer-reviewed journals (leading role).
- Very good oral and written proficiency in English.
Job Description:
The post-doctoral fellow will conduct research on the short-term fluxes of carbon in terrestrial ecosystems and the influence of weather events and climate on these fluxes. The project aims to analyze and characterize the rain-induced carbon fluxes using eddy-covariance data and improve the quantification methods for their contribution to the ecosystem budgets. The duties include conducting research, participating in Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in a Changing Climate (BECC) activities, supervising degree/master/PhD projects, and actively seeking external research funding. Teaching may be included up to 20% of working hours.
