Postdoctoral Fellow in Crosslinking: The Webb laboratory at Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join their team. The project focuses on investigating the relationship between conformational preferences of intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs) and gain or loss of function PTMs/proteoforms and protein-protein interactions, using crosslinking, covalent labeling, and top-down proteomics. The postdoc will also be involved in developing strategies for analyzing crosslinking and covalent labeling top-down data and predicting conformational ensembles of IDPs.
Designation: Postdoctoral Fellow
Research Area: Crosslinking and Top-Down Proteomics
Location: Indiana University – Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI), Indianapolis, Indiana, United States
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Experience with protein crosslinking, covalent labeling, top-down mass spectrometry, data analysis, protein expression and purification, ion mobility, or structural and computational biology/biophysics is desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Track record of research productivity, as evidenced by publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Job Description:
- Utilize crosslinking and covalent labeling strategies to probe protein-protein interactions and conformational preferences of intrinsically disordered proteins.
- Employ mass spectrometry techniques, including tandem mass spectrometry with ion mobility, collision-induced dissociation (CID/CAD), electron capture dissociation (ECD), and surface-induced dissociation (ECD).
- Develop and optimize sample preparation and native and denaturing online separation methods.
- Lead the day-to-day administrative operations of the Webb lab.
- Analyze and interpret data, and prepare manuscripts for publication in scientific journals.
- Participate in lab meetings, present research findings at scientific conferences, and assist with training graduate and undergraduate students.
