Postdoctoral Research Associate, University of North Carolina, USA

Post-Doctoral Fellowship Position at USA, Ozbolat Laboratory at Penn State

Postdoctoral Research Associate: The Schrider Lab at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to conduct computational research in population and evolutionary genomics. This multidisciplinary position involves studying various aspects such as population genetics of mosquito species, inferring populations’ selective and demographic histories, and applying machine learning tools to problems in population genetics and/or phylogenetics.

Designation: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Research Area: Population and Evolutionary Genomics

Location: Department of Genetics, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • Completion of a PhD in Evolution, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or a related field prior to the postdoc’s hire.
  • Strong computational skills and experience in population and evolutionary genomics.
  • Candidates from diverse backgrounds will be considered, and training will be provided to address any deficits as needed.

Job Description: As a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Population and Evolutionary Genomics, you will conduct computational research addressing various problems in the field. The primary focus will be on population genetics of mosquito species, with potential collaborations with the Department of Biology at UNC. You will also work on inferring populations’ selective and demographic histories, including gene flow and introgression between closely related species. Additionally, you will explore the application of machine learning tools to address challenges in population genetics and/or phylogenetics. The position offers an opportunity for multidisciplinary research and training.

How to Apply: Interested candidates should email Dan Schrider at drs@unc.edu and include their CV as an attachment.

Last Date for Apply: Open until filled.
