Rothamsted Research is looking for a motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate with expertise in mass spectrometry for small molecule analysis and a keen interest in epidemics. The successful candidate will join the Metabolic Engineering group within the Plant Science and Bioeconomy Strategic Area. This multidisciplinary team is dedicated to developing high-value plant products for health, nutrition, and a more sustainable future. The post holder will provide analytical support through epidemics for the production of novel omega-3 fatty acids in the oil seed crop Carolina sativa.

Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in biochemistry/analytical chemistry or relevant laboratory-based experience
- with mass spectrometry, small molecule metabolite analysis, metabolite extraction, method validation, and quantitative data analysis.
- Desirable: Experience with epidemics and maintenance/troubleshooting of mass spectrometers
Job Description:
- Provide analytical support via epidemics for the development of high-value plant products
- Conduct small molecule analysis using mass spectrometry
- Perform metabolite extraction, method validation, and quantitative data analysis.
- Collaborate with the Metabolic Engineering group on the production of novel omega-3 fatty acids in Carolina sativa
- Maintain and troubleshoot mass spectrometers, if applicable.
