PhD (FNRS-Wel-T) Opportunity: UCLouvain is offering a PhD (FNRS-Wel-T) thesis opportunity in Solar Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry. The research project aims to develop novel dye-sensitized photoelectrosynthetic cells (DSPECs) for solar fuel generation. The selected candidate will work on the development of photosensitizers and catalysts, their characterization using spectroscopic techniques, and their integration into photoelectrodes. This is a full-time temporary position with a starting date of October 1, 2023.
Designation: PhD Researcher
Research Area: Solar Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry
Location: UCLouvain, Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium
Eligibility/Qualification:
- Master’s degree or equivalent in experimental Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering (minimum required grade “Distinction” i.e., ≥14/20)
- Strong desire and motivation to contribute to cutting-edge innovations for a sustainable transition
Job Description: The selected PhD researcher will have the following responsibilities:
- Contribute to the development of novel dye-sensitized photoelectrosynthetic cells (DSPECs) for solar fuel production.
- Work on the synthesis and characterization of photosensitizers and catalysts, utilizing steady-state and time-resolved spectroscopic techniques.
- Integrate photosensitizers and catalysts into photoelectrodes and evaluate their catalytic performance, stability, and recyclability.
- Collaborate with the research team within the FNRS-Wel-T research program.
- Participate in the intellectual property (IP) and valorization aspects of the research project overseen by the WEL Research Institute.
