Postdoctoral Scholar Position in the Tsegai Lab: The Ape Evolutionary Morphology and Movement Lab (Ape-Move Lab) at the University of Chicago is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join their team. The lab, led by Dr. Zewdi Tsegai, focuses on the biomechanics of the great ape foot and explores the functional morphology of the human and ape skeleton. This research opportunity offers the chance to contribute to the understanding of locomotor evolution in our fossil relatives. The position is in the Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy, which has a diverse group of well-known researchers in evolutionary biology and biomechanics.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Biomechanics of the great ape foot
Location: University of Chicago, Department of Organismal Biology and Anatomy
Eligibility/Qualification:
- PhD in a relevant subject area such as biomechanics, biological anthropology, or anatomy
- Strong research record, evidenced by publications in international journals (highly advantageous)
- Extensive experience in anatomy and dissection (not necessarily limited to humans or non-human primates)
- Prior experience with X-ROMM and micro-CT based analytical methods (advantageous, but not required)
- Demonstrated ability to develop innovative research projects
- Strong collaborative skills
Job Description: As a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Tsegai Lab, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting research on the functional morphology and biomechanics of the great ape and human foot and ankle
- Applying novel X-ROMM and CT based analytical approaches using live subjects and cadaveric specimens
- Analyzing and interpreting results of skeletal morphology and movement analysis
