Postdoctoral Scientist: Bioinformatics: The Center of Human Genetics at KU Leuven is seeking a talented and motivated Postdoctoral Scientist in Bioinformatics for Single-Cell Multi-Omics data integration. This position, under the supervision of Prof. Thierry Voet, involves developing and implementing advanced data analysis strategies for integrating genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic data of individual cells using state-of-the-art statistical models and machine learning techniques. The primary focus will be on investigating human aging and disease, particularly Parkinson’s disease, to address critical biological questions with potential high impact in their respective fields.
Designation: Postdoctoral Scientist
Research Area: Bioinformatics for Single-Cell Multi-Omics
Location: Center of Human Genetics, KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium
Eligibility/Qualification:
- MSc in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or related fields.
- Ph.D. in Computational Biology, Functional Genomics, Genomics, or other relevant subjects.
- Proficiency in UNIX/Linux and programming languages like R, Bash, and one other (Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.).
- Extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of bioinformatics approaches for DNA and/or RNA next-generation sequence analyses.
- Knowledge of human genetics, genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, and next-generation sequencing technologies and data types.
- Excellent strategic thinking, critical and problem-solving skills.
- High-level communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Job Description:
Postdoctoral Scientist: Bioinformatics for Single-Cell Multi-Omics (ref. BAP-2023-533)
As a Postdoctoral Scientist, you will lead the development and implementation of computational analysis methods for single-cell genomic, epigenomic, and transcriptomic data integration. Your role involves working with experimental biologists, coordinating large-scale single-cell and spatial multi-omics datasets related to human aging, Parkinson’s, and other diseases. You will play a key role in the publication of research results and present findings at meetings. The position requires innovative reasoning, staying updated with cutting-edge analysis methods, and effective collaboration within the multidisciplinary team at KU Leuven Institute for Single Cell Omics (LISCO).
How to Apply: For more information, please contact Prof. dr. Thierry Voet (thierry.voet@kuleuven.be) or dr. Katy Vandereyken (katy.vandereyken@kuleuven.be). To apply for this position, please use the online application tool by August 31, 2023.
