Collaborate with a diverse team led by Tim Coulson to investigate the ecological and evolutionary impacts of apex predators such as wolves and wolf fish on natural systems. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research and apply innovative methods to understand the dynamics of predator-influenced ecosystems.

Designation: Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Research Area: Evolutionary Ecology, Apex Predator Dynamics, Ecosystem Impact

Location: University of Oxford, Various Field Sites (Australia, Trinidad, Yellowstone County)

Eligibility/Qualification:

  • PhD in evolutionary ecology or related field, or near completion of PhD
  • Strong background in data collection, fieldwork, and data analysis from complex systems
  • Experience in parameterizing and applying ecological models
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Job Description:

Postdoctoral Research Assistant – Apex Predator Ecology and Evolution

As a Postdoctoral Research Assistant, you will be an integral part of an ERC-funded project that delves into the influence of apex predators on ecological communities and evolution. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, you will analyze existing data, gather new experimental data from fieldwork, and contribute to parameterizing models for Trinidadian freshwater and Yellowstone ecosystems. You’ll work closely with colleagues to implement novel methodologies that leverage computer simulations informed by your data and analyses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze existing data and collect new experimental data from fieldwork in diverse locations.
  • Collaborate on parameterizing and applying ecological models to investigate the impacts of apex predators.
  • Work with the team to develop and implement innovative methods for gaining insights from simulations.
  • Participate in fieldwork expeditions in Trinidad, Yellowstone, and Australia.
  • Contribute to the research outputs and publications of the project.

How to Apply:

To apply for this role, please submit a cover letter and CV. If your work or research outputs have been significantly affected by Covid-19 disruptions, include an additional paragraph in your supporting statement explaining the impact.
