Post-doc Position at the 2D Smart Materials Lab, University of Valencia, Spain

Postdoc in Spain

Post-doc Position at the 2D: We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated postdoctoral candidate for a position in the field of theoretical magnetism and spin dynamics simulations. The successful candidate will contribute to the ERC Starting Grant project “2D-SMARTSES,” based at the 2D Smart Materials Lab within the Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol) at the University of Valencia. Our lab is committed to multidisciplinary research and aims for excellence in scientific endeavors.

Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher

Research Area: Theoretical Magnetism and Spin Dynamics Simulations

Location: Institute of Molecular Science (ICMol), University of Valencia, Spain

Eligibility/Qualification: Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Condensed Matter Physics or its equivalent. They should possess a strong background and interest in theoretical magnetism, spin Hamiltonians, spin dynamics, and their computational simulation. Practical knowledge of programming and electronic structure codes is required, along with strong oral and written communication skills in English.

Job Description: The project, 2D-SMARTIES, focuses on the emerging field of Molecular 2D Magnonics. The primary goal is to develop a comprehensive computational methodology to drive the creation of new materials. These materials consist of smart molecules that can interact with external stimuli, such as light, when deposited on the surface of a 2D magnetic system. The envisioned applications include advancements in magnonics.

How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit their applications to José J. Baldovi via email at jaime.baldovi@uv.es. The application package should be compiled into a single PDF document and include the following components:

  1. Motivation letter
  2. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  3. List of publications
  4. Contact details of references

Last Date for Apply: We will consider applications until 15 November 2023. Selected candidates will be interviewed online between November and December 2023.
