Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Spectroscopy: The Laboratory for Energy Materials at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) is seeking a dynamic and talented Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Feldmann Lab. Our research combines ultrafast magneto-chiroptical spectroscopy and materials chemistry to revolutionize the energy production and consumption landscape. By exploring the concept of symmetry breaking in novel soft semiconductors and nanomaterials, we aim to control charge, spin, and light using printable materials. Our work focuses on uncovering design principles for the next generation of affordable, efficient, and flexible solar cells, ultra-bright displays, and pioneering applications in quantum information technology.
Designation: Postdoctoral Researcher
Research Area: Ultrafast Spectroscopy
Location: Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland
Eligibility/Qualification: We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
- A Ph.D. with extensive experience in ultrafast optical spectroscopy (e.g., TA, FLUPS, optical pump-THz probe, TR-MOKE, etc.).
- Team spirit, willingness to share experiences, mentor younger team members, and collaborate effectively.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience with magneto-optical measurements, particularly on magnetic materials.
- Proficiency in chiroptical spectroscopy, particularly on chiral materials.
- Experience with optoelectronic devices or materials, including small molecules, polymers, self-assemblies, nanocrystals, halide perovskites, and more.
- A track record of previously acquired fellowships or the desire to apply for one with Dr. Sascha Feldmann.
Job Description: As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be an integral part of our international and diverse team, which includes chemists, physicists, materials scientists, electrical engineers, and computer scientists. We collaborate to address fundamental and applied research questions, and your research plan will be determined based on your personal interests. You will have access to world-class, state-of-the-art laboratories with unique spectroscopy tools, and you will work in one of the most picturesque locations near the Swiss Alps.
How to Apply: To apply for this position, please send your application directly to Dr. Sascha Feldmann at feldmann@cantab.net using the subject line “Postdoc application for EPFL – Your Name.” Your application must be submitted as a single PDF document, which includes:
- A brief statement of motivation (maximum 1 page)
- Your CV, including a full list of publications
- Contact details of 2 to 3 references who are willing to be contacted
Applications will be considered until the position is filled, and the earliest start date is June 2024.
Last Date for Apply: Application deadline: Open until filled.
